Yoga studio in Kinsale

yoga for therapeutic rehabilitationHow many times have your clients asked you what they should do next to continue improving? You want to provide the best care and set them on a path of success after they leave your care.

A partnership between your healthcare practice and Yoga 4 All Bodies can be a great benefit for your clients.

Yoga 4 All Bodies is the only Iyengar yoga studio in Reston. Iyengar is an alignment- and safety-based style of yoga, making Iyengar yoga teachers and physical therapists natural partners. In fact, several Iyengar teachers are also physical therapists!

Iyengar yoga offers a great post PT solution because it continues to build strength and flexibility, safely.

For example, at the end of a 16-week Iyengar yoga program, randomized participants with chronic lower back pain had a 64% reduction in pain, 77% reduction in functional disability, and an 88% reduction in pain medication use. .

At the end of a 9-week Iyengar yoga program, women over 65 had faster stride, increased flexibility in the lower extremities, an improved single-leg stance, and improved confidence in walking and balance.

Most insurers set limits regarding the allowable hours of physical therapy, and the APTA notes that this is of concern to physical therapists, as patients may benefit from additional activities. Yoga provides a referral outlet for patients who have used their physical therapy hours and want to continue to build strength and flexibility.

Iyengar yoga has been studied and proven to help with many conditions that physical therapists see every day, such as Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis, arthritis, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain and spinal cord injury. Iyengar yoga has also been shown to help with side effects of reduced physical health such as depression and hypertension. For a full list of the science, visit .

Students stick with physical activity when the location is as close as possible to home. In my geographic area—Reston and Herndon—Yoga 4 All Bodies is the only Iyengar yoga studio. The next closest Iyengar Yoga teachers are my mentoring teacher, who teaches in McLean and Arlington, and a teacher affiliated with a holistic medical practice who works in Leesburg.

The Studio

I am the only studio which teaches consistently with a Yoga wall. The Yoga wall allows students to access poses in a way not otherwise possible. I also have blocks, blankets, straps, planks, a mirror wall, and more, and am one of less than a handful of studios in the area to provide these props for student alignment, safety, and practice.
