Yusra Kauppila is a former Marine and served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is the Executive Director of Warriors for Healing and on the faculty for Warriors for Healing Training for Yoga Teachers. Yusra teaches yoga in the military environment with compassion and understanding and creates a class that is accessible for all ability levels.

Tony Roberts, E-RYT-200 – Program Director

Born and raised in England, Tony, from the age 11 was an active sports person, playing rugby football for many years until a neck injury suffered while playing in the Royal Air Force curtailed his playing career. He served for twelve years, active duty with the Royal Air Force, serving as an aircraft technician. During his service, after retiring from rugby football he became an active rower, representing the Royal Air Force. However, a serious back injury resulted in surgery that brought a premature end to his rowing. Upon leaving the service, he subsequently moved to Oregon, where he embarked on a personal journey, which led him to reach into aspects of health, spirituality and personal growth, which for many years he had neglected. Accepting a friend’s offer to try yoga, he discovered the power of breath and movement. His personal struggles overcoming and accepting injury, his own journey together with a heartfelt sense of the many blessings and benefits yoga can manifest are present in each class he guides. He currently teaches in Portland, Oregon at YoYoYogi, where he received his RYT 200 hour teacher certification. He is registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200 hour certified teacher and is iRest Yoga Nidra certified. He is also a volunteer teacher with Living Yoga. He was awarded “Living Yoga Volunteer Instructor of the Year” in 2015. Tony is a certified instructor for Warriors For Healing who are dedicated to bringing yoga to Veterans and their families who may be affected by PTSD. He also leads classes at Unfold Yoga in SE Portland and Imagine yoga studio in Lake Oswego. His own yoga journey illuminates his classes as he guides students from the heart toward their own unique yoga experience. . He will soon begin his RYT-500 certification training and is also working toward iRest Yoga Nidra teacher certification.
