Alison Page (Owner/Pilates Instructor) is a Pilates Method Alliance Certified instructor with twelve years of teaching experience garnered in both Alabama and New York. After receiving a certification from Physical Mind Institute in Mat Pilates in 2003, Alison taught for six studios in New York City — most notably for “CRUNCH” where she performed “Fat Burning Pilates” for a national advertising campaign. Alison, later in 2004, became a graduate of a comprehensive teaching apprenticeship at NY PILATES in Manhattan, under the tutelage of Justine DiCostanza — becoming a third generation instructor in the lineage of Romana Kryzanowska. Her continuing education has included training with Anantomy Trains Inc.; Elders Ron Fletcher and Mary Bowen; and Master Instructors Cara Reeser, Jay Grimes, Michele Larsson, Mejo Wiggin, Amy Alpers, and Amy Lange. She has provided specialized instruction to those with a variety of special needs: juvenile arthritis, hip & knee replacement, hip fractures, “frozen shoulder, ” spinal fusions, scoliosis, bulging or herniated discs, osteoporosis, rehabilitation for professional dancers and more. Alison’s education in dance and study of kinesiology for dancers greatly influences her teaching philosophy. She is a graduate of The Alabama School of Fine Arts in Dance, and received her BFA (with Honors) in Dance from the University of Arizona. She later graduated with an MA degree in Arts Education (Dance/Theatre Emphasis) from New York University. While in New York, she worked as an assistant to the Dance Supervisor of Disney’s “The Lion King” on Broadway. She founded Birmingham, AL’s professional company AROVA Contemporary Ballet in 2006, and served as ACB Artistic Director until 2014 when her son Jackson was born. She attended Aircat Aerial Yoga’s teacher training in Boulder, CO in 2013, establishing Aero Joe in Pepper Place the same year. Emily Cain (Administrative Assistant/Pilates Instructor) holds a teacher certification through the prestigious Pilates Center in Boulder, CO. Emily started taking the art of Pilates seriously in college, where she realized the method was not only a way for her to stay in shape, but also a way to perfect her posture, strengthen her core, and create an overall mind/body transformation. While in college, she attained a Power Pilates Mat certification in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Pilates Center of Pittsburgh. She received her B.A. in Dance Performance from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2010. She became a member of AROVA Contemporary Ballet in Birmingham, Alabama the following fall, pursuing a life-long dream of becoming a professional ballet dancer. Kelly Davis (Pilates Instructor) received her Pilates teaching certifications from Balanced Body University. She uses her knowledge and love for both health, science and movement in her teaching; she graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a BS in Biology and a BA in Dance. Kelley most recently taught for the YMCA and Agile Physical Therapy in Birmingham, AL before joining the staff at Aero Joe. She recently completed advanced study continuing education with Master Instructor Cara Reeser studying the lineage of Kathy Grant.
