I started my personal yoga practice in 2002 in Littleton, CO. When I moved full time to Grand County in 2006, I really missed the little studio I practiced at. Grand Lake seemed to be a perfect place to open a studio. I completed PowerYoga teacher training from CorePower Yoga in August 2009. I have also completed a teaching Extension program through Corepower. I am a certified and insured instructor with over 7 years teaching experience that reaches well over 2200 hours of teaching. I am excited to be able to share something that means so much to me with our community. Yoga is not just a form of exercise for the body, but it can become a new way to look at life and the world we live in. I am continually surprised at the progress my students make in becoming stronger, more flexible and often-times healed in places they never expected. I hope not only to share in practicing yoga with you, but also in enhancing the way we live life in Grand County!
Yoga is for everyone, regardless of your shape, age, strength or flexibility levels. At Stillwater Yoga we combine physical movement and controlled breath to calm and center, control weight, and increase strength. Yoga can often relieve lower back pain. In addition to the physical benefits, yoga assists in increasing focus and concentration, confidence, and reducing stress levels. It teaches us to be aware and consciousness as to what we allow into our lives and bodies and what we choose to let go of. You get out of it what you put into it. Your practice is just that, YOUR practice.
We are all students - always learning and improving. Every day can be different. You will learn to listen to your body and give yourself what you need at the time. I will guide your practice, but you will make it your own. If you are new to yoga, come in and give it a try!
