How to Add a Tummy Control

No experience is necessary to start taking Tucson Yoga's beginner-level classes. It's important to choose the right class the first time you do yoga. Here are the best choices:

Gentle Yoga - Gentle Yoga is the best choice for those seeking a more relaxing or meditative experience, regardless of your fitness level. It's also a great class for people who aren't very flexible.

Beginning Yoga - Basic Yoga is best for beginners at an average fitness level. The easy-to-moderate pace allows you to experience the flow of a yoga practice while also learning basic aligment and principles.

Mixed-Level Classes - Mixed-level classes tend to be a little faster and more active. These classes are appropriate for those who are moderately fit and flexible, however first-time students are always advised to start with Gentle Yoga or Basic Yoga for at least a few months before attending mixed-level classes.

Rise & Shine, Mindfulness Yoga, Meditative Yoga - Beginners are welcome.

How To Start
Drop-ins are welcome and pre-registration is not required. Please arrive 10 minutes early to meet the teacher and fill out a registration form, or to save time. See pricing info

Yoga Mats
Yoga mats are free to use during your first class. After that, students are required to bring their own mat to class. If you don't have your own, you can rent one of ours for $1 per usage. We also sell yoga mats for $18 and up.

What to Wear
No special clothing is required to do yoga. Just wear comfortable clothing that isn't too baggy and doesn't restrict movement. A t-shirt or tank-top with sweats, shorts, or stretch-pants works well. Yoga is done with bare feet, so prepare to remove your shoes and socks when you arrive.

I've never done yoga before. Which class should I go to?
Basic Yoga is appropriate for most beginners. Check the class schedule to see when the next Basic Yoga classes are scheduled. If you are out-of-shape, very stiff, or injuried, you should start out with one of the Gentle Yoga classes. On the other hand, if you're very fit and flexible, you may enjoy starting out at a Flow class. More information for beginners is available on our Beginners Page.

Do I need to sign-up before I come to class?
No, you can just show up to the class you want to attend. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill out a registration form, or print the form on this website and fill it out in advance.
