Yoga Foundations with Debbie ~ (Series) This series is for the absolute Beginner to Yoga, as it introduces students to these concepts: noticing sensations in the body and proper alignment of the body, bringing awareness to the breath and stilling the "monkey mind". Also offered are the alignment cues for how to practice the following groups of poses: standing, balancing, back bending, forward folding, twisting postures as well as inversions. This class incorporates the Kripalu Yoga concept of self determination and encourages the student to ascertain what is best in her or his individual body. Stress reduction and relaxation are an integral part of each class. Next Session begins Monday, Jan. 9 or Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012
*Yoga 1 with Karen ~ (Series) Karen introduces basic concepts of Anusara Yoga, using alignment of the body as well as breath. This is a heart-based practice and focuses on spirals in the body. Next Session begins Tuesday, Jan. 10 & Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012

*Yin Yoga with Debbie - (Series) practice combines traditional yoga poses with Oriental Meridian Theory and Taoist philosophy. Poses are mainly practiced seated on the floor and with longer holding. The intention of this practice is to work on joints and their connective tissues rather than muscles and bones. Organs are also nourished as energy in the body is released. Yin Yoga combines the coolness of Yin with the heat of a more Yang practice. In this series, we explore the relationship between these 2 opposing, yet complementary energies in the body that help create a whole vital being. Attention is paid to breathing as well as alignment. Focus is on the particular energy of the poses. The result is a radiant, vibrant, refreshed body, mind and spirit. There is no music in this class. There is frequently reading from a yoga philosophy book, a yogic novel or poetry. Next Session begins Monday, Jan. 9, 2012
Wake up Yoga with Gail Steele ~ (series) Gail brings her knowledge of yoga and Ayurveda into the yoga space, with awareness on body and breath. Next session begins Monday, Jan. 9, 2012
